December 17th, 2009: Thanks to Steven, an almost-lawyer who set me straight on the bear-punching clauses! The legality of spend-a-night-in-an-actually-haunted-house clauses remain an enigma.

The Child's Play charity auction for a T-Rex Squishable raised $241.51 for Child's Play. Nice work, you guys!

Hurray! I finally got the livejournal app working on my iPod touch!

Life has been going pretty well for me, especially since I finished all the academic madness from the end of the semester. I am completely done with the semester, and after 3 more additional work hours on Saturday, done with all scheduled responsibilies until classes start again mid-January, pretty much. :)

Went to technically two parties last weekend, but one of them was a bit more exciting ;)

In other news, I just finally read [info]inurashii's novel, Tales From the Securemarket. I was pleased to find I really, really enjoyed it. It's got perhaps a bit of a slow start, but I think it's well worth sticking with to the end. :) you can read it at www.talesfromthesecuremarket.com assuming I've spelled the address correctly. It really helped me get geared up for his game at Intercon in March, which starts out with a similar premise.

For the few of you who may care, I'm going to be back in Maine the 23rd through the 27th. I might even actually be available Thursday and Saturday of that.

Think that'll be all from me for now! With this new app thing, I might even start posting more often!

December 16th, 2009: ITEMS OF NOTE:

The Child's Play charity auction for a T-Rex Squishable is ending in just a few hours!

Dinosaur Comics stuff ordered today isn't guaranteed to make it in time for Christmas, unless you're shipping to the States and you choose USPS DOMESTIC EXPRESS shipping. You can still order to non-US addresses however, and some of it still might get there in time! CHRISTMAS IS A TIME OF MIRACLES. (NO PROMISES ON THE MIRACLES THOUGH)

The Project Wonderful ad to the right is currently showing this image which links here, and I've got to say that I find this entirely charming and I love all my readers, but ESPECIALLY the ones who do stuff like this.

I hope you enjoyed these three ITEMS OF NOTE.

contretemps [KON-truh-tahn; Fr. kawntruh-TAHN]

noun
an inopportune occurrence; an embarrassing mischance

An unforeseen event that disrupts the normal course of things; an inopportune occurrence.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/contretemps

I congratulated myself on being the first in line to speak to the new boss to recommend myself and my abilities. Unfortunately a contretemps in the form of a fly buzzing into my mouth as I opened it to speak kept me from giving this boss my name, and Eliza behind me got the promotion.
